What is altruistism? What do you mean by “sharing the awareness”

Altruism is defined as “a person's unselfish regard for, or devotion, to the welfare of others”. This is always the word that comes to mind first, while reflecting on how I feel while providing therapeutic care to my clients. Each person has an ever changing set of needs, ebbing and flowing throughout their life, and day to day. My objective as a massage therapist is to ask the right questions and to find out what goals you are looking to achieve in your session. Sometimes the goal may be to simply relax your mind and go inward with a gentle swedish massage. Another session, may be focusing on muscular restriction with deeper pressure, an injury, or dealing with chronic pain, or something completely new to you or I. Whatever it is, I am open to working with what YOU know and feel in YOUR body, pairing it with my experience, and knowledge of anatomy and physiology. I work to pair this together and at the end of the session, share what I find with you, and empower YOU to find your own awareness of your body and mind.

 Education:

I originally gained my massage licence in my home state of Ohio in a 750hr program from The Cleveland Institute of Massage Therapy. I Graduated in 2005 and have been practicing full time since 2007. Moving to Oklahoma in 2013, I received reciprocity and transferred my licence to Oklahoma, originally licenced with Oklahoma City and am currently licenced through Oklahoma State Cosmetology Board. Fully insured through ABMP since 2007. Aside from massage continuing education, I have just completed 200hr RYT at 405Yoga at the end of 2019 at 405Yoga.

My Story And Who I am:

Mom, daughter, wife, family oriented, animal caretaker, gardener, nature lover, craft hobbyist, introvert with a love for the human body. Living in the country with my husband, kids, and close family. I spend most days off, outside with my hands or feet in the earth and head in the clouds hiking and listening to audiobooks. I love to learn and have a huge appreciation for anatomy and physiology which I spend a good amount of time studying. I love finding new ways to treat my clients and making them feel better in their day to day lives

Values:

Honesty, Integrity, Kindness, and serving the community around me with thoughtfulness and care. I am a caregiver through and through because of how I was raised, especially by my sweet mother. She taught me the extraordinary value in caring for others, and the true joy that it brings. There can never be too much happiness, or feeling too good and massage is a testament to that. These are the things I strive to create for my clients so they can head out into their world and serve the people they love the most, passing it forward, while feeling their best!

 How I can help:

Each session is customized to fit individual needs. My massage work is generally slow, rhythmic, and firm while able to mix myofascial, trigger point therapy, swedish, deep tissue techniques with active and passive movements, dynamic cupping, Hypervolt, or moist heat therapy. This merging of modalities can create functionality in the body, decrease stress in the mind, and increases the experience of body awareness. Communication in a session is necessary for feedback on pressure but creating purposeful silence is encouraged so you can create the experience you need internally.  I am happy to work alongside any care professionals you may already be working with or refer out to someone who would you may benefit from working with as well. Most importantly, please know that All are welcome on my table!
